Jazz and Modern

“Jazz Dance is a performance dance and style that arose in the United States. The term jazz dance has been used in ways that have little or nothing to do with jazz music, but used in Hollywood movies and Broadway shows in terms of choreographers such as Bob Fosse and Jeremy Robbins. Jazz dance has now developed into current styles and music and can expand itself into more of a commercial genre.”

Dancers will work on strength, flexibility, stamina, coordination and musicality, while learning how to use these skills with greater control, precision and confidence.
We combine traditional jazz and modern techniques with current commercial and contemporary styles, giving dancers the opportunity to experience different ways of moving and find their own individual style. Choreography will be energetic, challenging and inspired by the music and styles they enjoy, while still developing strong technical foundations.
As dancers progress, we encourage them to become more expressive and confident performers, learning how to connect with music, perform with intention and work as part of a group. Most importantly, we want our dancers to enjoy the process, challenge themselves and develop a genuine appreciation and passion for dance.
